Hi, my name is Chad Magiera.
I'm a full-time studio artist and woodworker living and working in San Francisco's Sunset Neighborhood. The work I am making explores our shared memories of exploration and voyaging, and migration; evoking connections to earth and water, ocean swells, wind, currents, air, and flight. The forms embody a universal language that speaks to functions, use, and purpose. It is important to me that I have a hand in the work.
I received an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art , a Bauhaus Studio Art Program alongside Artists, Craftsmen, Designers, and Architects immersed in self-directed research, discourse, and making. Much of my work is carried out using traditional methods and techniques that have been used for centuries.
